One of the features that separates Edge Sight and Sound from other Tulsa DJs is that we offer an Entertainment Director with all of our packages. An Entertainment Director? Whats that? An Entertainment Director is a member of our team, who works directly with DJ/MC and other vendors, to facilitate a smooth wedding day. What usually happens at weddings is either the mother of the bride or the maid of honor are left in charge of running the wedding. This is a very overwhelming job, especially for two of the most important guests of the bride. By having an Entertainment Director at your wedding to specifically focus on you and your personalized itinerary, it leaves the maid of honor or mother of bride free to enjoy the wedding. The Entertainment Director also helps create
the written schedule (itinerary) with the bride herself. On the day of the wedding, the Entertainment Director will distribute the schedule to key people (i.e.
photographer, DJ, caterer) and they'll ensure all parties follow schedule
unless instructed otherwise by the bride. An Entertainment Director will also coordinate with vendors to ensure
details on dinner, drinks, champagne for toasts, cake cutting, photos and other details are planned with precision. They are there to keep the flow of the wedding and to make sure it runs smoothly. In other words, the Entertainment Director is a bride's best friend haha.

What to keep in mind when picking a venue
The location of your wedding is a huge deal! Here are some points to consider while picking a venue:
1. Is you venue accessible? Make sure your guests don't need to own a monster truck to get to your venue. Verify that all guests can move around/to your venue with ease. Is it wheel chair accessible? Does it have stairs? How long of a hike to it? How far away is it from town?
2. Does you venue accommodate the number of guests you are inviting? Have a general head count before you commit to a venue. If your venue only comfortably accommodates 150 people, there is no way to fit all 300 guests you have invited. How are you going to uninvited your grandma's neighbor's cousin's girlfriend? You can't forget about your grandma's neighbor's cousin's girlfriend! How rude (haha).
3. Does you venue have certain amenities? We've been to venues that don't have easily accessible electricity. Most vendors need power to operate. Also, does it have (clean) bathrooms, enough parking space, AC/heat, kitchen..?
4. Does the decor of the venue match you wedding theme? If the walls are bright yellow, will that match your mint green and Tiffany blue wedding colors? Probably not. Make sure it all flows together and makes sense. Having a modern themed wedding at a barn just doesn't look good.
5. When you rent the venue what all does it come with the rental? Do they provide linens? chairs? tables? People to clean up after the wedding? Can you rent your own vendors or must you use the venue's vendors?
6. Are you serving alcohol? Make sure the venue isn't an alcohol free location.
7. What are the venues rates? Ask if they have off peak discounts or week day discounts. If the venue is at a hotel, make sure to ask if they offer discounts on rooms or group discounts. Also, if you go over your set time, make sure you know the overtime fee.
8. Can you have your ceremony and reception at this venue? Having both in the same location makes it very easy for your out of town guests.
9. Does it fit your budget? Sure its a beautiful location, but don't commit to something that is way over a price you are conformable with.
10. Least and certainly the most important of all these tips is to MAKE SURE THEY ARE AVAILABLE ON YOUR WEDDING DATE. That should be your first question. Can you imagine falling in love with the location, but finding out they are booked! Talk about heart breaking :(
Don't be afraid to ask, ask, ask! Write down your most important questions and write down the answer too. Take a few days to think about it and make sure to visit more than one location!

Weddings in the heat
Its wedding season and the hot summer days are creeping in fast. The official first day of summer is June 21, 2014. That's in 10 days!!! Scary I know. With that in mind here are a few suggestions to keep in mind when having a summer wedding:
1. HYDRATION is the most important concept of a summer wedding. Make sure everyone has a cool beverage instead of sugary soft drinks. Serve ice tea, lemonade, water, juices, frozen drinks, etc..
2. If your having an outside wedding try having a wedding closer to night time or a sunset wedding. Keep in mind, you can always have a short ceremony outside and then move the reception indoors.
3. Provide goodies for your guests like sunglasses, sunscreen, hand fans, water bottles, etc.. All these items can be easily personalized with a cute quote or simply a Mr. & Mrs.
4. SHADE, shade, shade.. did I say shade? yup, shade.
5. Provide misters and fans!
Those are only a few ideas to keep in mind. Now bring on the summer!

Keith Boyd- small entrepreneur with a big heart
Now that everyone knows about Keith's Ice Cold Lemonade Stands, it's time to share a little bit of Keith Boyd's story. Keith Boyd is a young man who was
born with Cerebral Palsy, a condition that affects his mobility as well
as his ability to speak. While attending The Little Light House,
a tuition free Christian school for children with special needs, he received his
high-tech eye gaze computer, which is a speech generating device. Wow, how amazing is that? Keith was finally able to participate in life by
making his own choices. A truly life-changing moment! By using his eyes Keith was able to develop his own business plan for Keith's Ice Cold Lemonade Stands. In 2012, Keith's firsts stand was created to simply generate enough money to buy a toy Keith had his heart set on. Keith made enough money to buy his toy and donated the rest to his school, The Little Light House. This was the beginning of it all. Although Keith no longer attends The Little Light House, he is still raising money to help his friends! Keith's new goal for 2014 is to raise $250,000 for The Little Light House. Yes, Keith has to work harder, but his struggles only make him more determined! All this couldn't have been done without Keith's amazing parents, James and Erin Boyd, who have been by his side helping him fulfill his dreams. You two are fighters and such beautiful, strong, role models! We, at Edge Sight and Sound, are so happy to call the Boyds our friends! You guys are an inspiration to us all.
Can't wait to kick of Keith' Ice Cold Lemonade Stands 2014!!!!
Stay tuned for locations! Also, If you are looking for volunteer work this summer check out Keith's website and be a part of this amazing fundraiser.
